We are planning a 50 MW Solar Farm very soon. I would be using solar inverters for 25 MW portion and solar power inverters for the rest of 25 MW. Would let everybody know by Jan 2013, after doing practically an apple to apple comparision as I feel the real data from the ground would be more telling and real than what we calculate on a piece of paper as regards the harnessing the SUN is concerned.
Having worked in the telecom DC space for a while where we had to run a lot of big DC cable, bringing AC off the rood is a better solution than a DC run. I think the futrue loks bright for integrated solar inverter into the solar panel as a one piece SKU. This makes sense from the logistics side since you do not need to warehouse a number od different solar power inverters, all you need is pallets of AC modules (PV Panels with solar inverter and power quality incorporaed n the connection box.)
