Description

The manufacturer should achieve a good degree of adhesion with a moderate level of activation using an inline or batch plasma modification. TPU is reasonably facile to bond to. Also PC injection molding has excellent surface stability. This route would not require primer chemistry, heat, or interdiffusion of chains. It would also be resistant to contaminant or material defects. The final outcome would yield a covalent attachment which is permanent. A recipe for success.

The basic China injection molding machine manufacturers can all be fitted with a 2nd injection unit. Typically it would be in the vertical position, but it can also be on the opposite side of the operator. The rotating platen can be removed to allow for a single shot/color application and a Chinese plastic injection mold with a taller stack height. These are very common in the 2K molding applications.

It is a must to establish the correct processing conditions and parameters as well as maintain part consistency and quality with the Chinese manufacturer. This is especially true if you are making injection mold changes based on current parts and want to repeat the process to confirm the changes.
