Pot bearing is designed to accommodate the movement and displacement, also bearing the low to high loads.

Pot bearing is designed for bearing the combinations of vertical loads, horizontal loads, longitudinal and transverse movements and rotations. According to the bearing performance, it can be divided into fixed pot bearing, free sliding pot bearing and guide sliding pot bearing (edge guided bearing pad & center guided bearing pad). All of them ensure the controlled transfer of forces between superstructure and substructure of bridge. Pot bearing is economical, compact, light, and has long service life.

Fixed Pot Bearing - Bearing Loads but Not Movement
Fixed pot bearing consists of top and bottom steel plates, stainless steel panel, steel piston, internal sealing ring and elastomer pad. Under load the internal sealing ring enables the piston to rotate. This kind of pot bearing has vertical rotation performance but restricts all movement in planar axis.Free Sliding Pot Bearing - Allows Movements & Loads
Free sliding pot bearing has the same structure with the fixed pot bearing, besides there also a PTFE sheet above the steel piston to enable the bearing to slid in all directions. It has vertical rotation, longitudinal and horizontal sliding performances.Guided Sliding Pot Bearing - Suits One Way Movement
Guided sliding pot bearing is identical in construction to free sliding pot bearing, but two guides are fixed at the top steel plate for bearing pad movement limitation. It has vertical rotation performance and one-way sliding performance. And there are two kinds of types about this protect: edge guided pot bearing and center guided pot bearing.

Technical performance of pot bearing pad.
Vertical rotation angle of the bridge pot bearing pad should not less than 40'.
Vertical bearing capacity (kN) 1000-50000 of the bridge pot bearing pad is divided into 28 grades. Horizontal bearing capacity of the non-sliding surface is 10% of the vertical.
Friction coefficient of the bridge pot bearing pad: room temperature μ ≤ 0.04.
Application
Pot bearing can be used in structure to bear low or high load and movement and rotation.
