For acids without solids in suspension mag 3hp VFD pumps are the best solution for quality and price. The cost obviously depends on the size of the pump. If you need an alternative to a gear pump we suggest you a sliding vane pump because you have the same performance as a gear pump and the all the advantages of a hermetic mag variable frequency drive pump. All vfd manufacturers state very clearly that the PERFORMANCE CURVES are valid for liquids having a specific gravity of that of water. For liquids with higher SG the flow rate drops in an almost proportional manner with increasing SG.
The HYDRAULIC POWER of the pump is directly proportional to the density of the fluid which means, if you take into account motor and axle losses, that it should be almost double than in the case of water.
There is no pump in the world that would ignore the SG, not to mention the increased viscocity of the fluid.
This has nothing to do with electrical power but with hydraulic performance of the single phase to three phase drives.
