What is Bilberry Extract?
Bilberry is famous as a tasty snack and ingredient in many desserts, but it is also an effective nutritional and medicinal supplement. Recent reports indicate that a compound, used by Blueberries and Grapes to fight off fungal infections, could also help lower cholesterol. The compound, called pterostilbene, also helps regulate blood sugar and might help fight type2 diabetes. This finding adds to a growing list of reasons to eat, or supplement with, the colorful fruit, especially Blueberries, which are rich in compounds known as antioxidants (these molecules battle cell and DNA damage involved in cancer, heart disease, diabetes and perhaps also brain degeneration).

Main Functions of Bilberry Extract
Protect and regenerate rhodopsin and cure the eye diseases;
Prevent the cardiovascular diseases;
Antioxidant and anti-aging;
Treatment for mild inflammation of the mucous membranes of mouth and throat;
Treatment for diarrhea, enteritis, urethritis, cystitis and virosis rheum epidemic, with its antiphlogistic and bactericidal action.
Dosage of Bilberry Extract
Pediatrics: Bilberry may be used in children 2 years of age and older for the treatment of diarrhea, but only under the supervision of your doctor.
Adult:
General: 80 - 120 mg 2 times per day of standardized bilberry extract (with 25% anthocyanidin)
Diarrhea: 5 - 10 g of crushed dried bilberries in 150 mL (2/3 of a cup) cold water, brought to a boil for 10 minutes, then strained. Only dried bilberry should be used for diarrhea. Do not use for more than 4 days.
Eye conditions and circulation: 80 - 480 mg a day in 2 - 3 divided doses of standardized bilberry extract (with 25% anthocyanidin) in capsule form.
